WHY I'M RUNNING

Education has been my passion ever since I entered Ms. Buck’s Kindergarten classroom as an eager 5-year-old; I learned quickly that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up.  Years later, I received my degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Fontbonne University. When I began student-teaching at Robinson Elementary, it was obvious to me why Kirkwood Schools had earned a strong reputation. I was surrounded by educators and staff with the same passion for educating children of all abilities.

After I taught for 10 years in Kirkwood, my husband and I decided for me to be a stay-at-home mom.  Not long afterward, I returned to Kirkwood – this time as a homeowner – because of the strength of the community. As a resident and mother of three, I understand the value Kirkwood School District adds to our homes, the importance it has for our children, and the pride it brings to the community.

After six years on the board, I understand the current and future challenges that face this district. This community needs a Board member who can provide experience and stability to keep moving forward. I am an active and enthusiastic district volunteer who is dedicated to maintaining and growing Kirkwood School District’s cutting edge.

Kirkwood School Board is the critical link between our great classrooms and this strong community. Between my background and board experience and leadership, I know the district’s culture, resources, and difficulties.  I understand the district’s finances and the importance of being a good steward of taxpayer money to foster long-term financial health.

As an experienced Kirkwood educator, I believe I provide a unique perspective on the challenges ahead. Because I have young children, I am committed to preserving and growing the district. I am excited to continue this journey, but need lots of support. Please follow me on Facebook, take a look at my website, volunteer to help, make a donation, or just spread the word.

Thank you for your continued support.
